Gas Safety Checks
A gas safety certificate demonstrates that an annual gas safety check has been carried out at a property – a legal requirement covered by the Gas Safety Regulations of 1998.
It provides important evidence that a landlord is fulfilling their duty of care for their tenants. A gas safety check must be carried out within 12 months of the installation of any new gas appliance or flue. The gas safety certificate should be retained by the landlord for two years, and a copy given to the tenant before they move into the property.
